Terms of Service
These terms are the rules for using Cogniv. We’ve tried to keep them short and in plain English. By creating an account, downloading the app or buying a session pack, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Cogniv.

1. Who we are
Cogniv is operated by [Company legal name], [Registered address], India (“Cogniv”, “we”, “us”). Cogniv is a desktop app for Windows and Linux, plus this website, that listens to interview audio from your microphone or system audio, transcribes it, and suggests answers. It can also take a screenshot of your screen and analyse the text in it.
You can reach us at aicogniv@gmail.com.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to enter into a binding contract to use Cogniv. If you use Cogniv on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
3. Your account
- You can sign up with an email and password or with Google sign-in. Please give us accurate information.
- Keep your password and devices secure. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- Tell us straight away at aicogniv@gmail.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- One person per account. Don’t share, sell or transfer your account.
4. Acceptable use
Interviews, tests and assessments often have their own rules. It is your job to know and follow them.
- You must comply with the rules, policies and instructions of any interview, assessment, exam, employer, school or platform where you use Cogniv.
- Do not use Cogniv anywhere its use is prohibited — for example, where the interviewer, employer or platform forbids outside assistance or AI tools.
- You are solely responsible for how you use Cogniv and for any consequences of that use, including any decision an employer or platform makes about you.
- Only capture audio and screen content you are allowed to capture. Respect other people’s privacy and follow recording and consent laws that apply to you.
- Don’t break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or upload content you don’t have the right to share.
- Don’t try to reverse-engineer, overload, resell, scrape or get around limits or security in Cogniv, or access other users’ data.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
5. Paid plans and session credits
- New accounts get 2 free sessions.
- You can buy one-time session packs in Indian Rupees (INR): Starter — ₹799 for 7 sessions, and Pro — ₹1,499 for 14 sessions. These are one-time purchases, not subscriptions; you are not charged again automatically.
- A “session” is one interview session started in the app. A free session lasts up to 10 minutes; a paid session lasts up to 30 minutes. Starting a session uses one credit.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. We don’t see or store your full card or bank details. Applicable taxes (such as GST) may be added.
- Prices and pack contents may change in the future. Changes won’t affect packs you’ve already bought.
6. Refunds
[Refund policy — to be confirmed]
7. AI output
Cogniv uses AI models to transcribe speech and generate suggested answers. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or unsuitable for your situation, and transcription can mishear things. Treat suggestions as a starting point, check them yourself, and use your own judgement. We don’t guarantee any outcome, including getting a job or passing an interview or assessment.
8. Third-party services
Cogniv relies on third-party services to work — for example Deepgram for speech-to-text, OpenAI, Anthropic and Google (Gemini) for AI answers and text extraction, Razorpay for payments, Google for sign-in, and Neon, Render and Vercel for hosting. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms. We aren’t responsible for third-party services we don’t control. See our Privacy Policy for how data flows to them.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of what you give us — your resume, job descriptions, and the questions and answers from your sessions. You give us permission to process that content only as needed to run Cogniv for you (for example, to send it to the providers above to transcribe and generate answers). You confirm you have the right to share it.
10. Our intellectual property
Cogniv, including the app, website, logo and brand, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app and website in line with these terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from Cogniv except as the law allows.
11. Termination
You can stop using Cogniv at any time and delete your account from your dashboard. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering Cogniv. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as AI output, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) continue after termination.
12. Disclaimers
Cogniv is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that Cogniv will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost opportunities, lost jobs, lost data or reputational harm, arising from your use of Cogniv. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Cogniv is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in [City, India] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app. If you keep using Cogniv after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.
